History

Cawston is a hive of history including our Church St. Agnes', to find out more about our village and some of it's history, visit the village web site at www.cawstonparish.info.
There is evidence the building of The Bell Inn Public House was here in1673 as a beam in the bar ceiling bears that date, however, the first licensees date from the year 1830, it was formerly known as the Chequers and later the White Horse before being the Bell.
In recent times alterations have been made, there were two separate rooms and a corridor, the corridor has been removed to make one large room, the alterations carried out are still in keeping with the building maintaining the original atmosphere of a village pub.
In 2005 Michael and Drina have turned the once large function room on the second floor of the property into three bedrooms, two of which are twin bedrooms plus one bedroom containing a king size bed; all bedrooms have en suite, toilet, washbasin and shower all have TV's, radio alarm clocks, tea and coffee facilities, there is a separate entrance into the bedroom block so there is no need to go through the pub.
